CCYS HISTORY

In the spring of 1993, the Board of Management of the YMCA Youth Home “Someplace Else” self incorporated to form Capital City Youth Services, Inc.  The YMCA Youth Home had been in operation since 1975, one of Florida’s first runaway shelters. The program began by providing for the basic needs – “three hots and a cot” – of runaway and homeless youth, ages 10-17.

Originally located off of Apalachee Parkway on Linda Ann Drive, the agency relocated to its current address on Roberts Avenue in 1993.
